El gobierno de Malasia ha tomado la decisión de aprobar la emisión de una licencia obligatoria de uso gubernamental para el sofosbuvir, usado en el tratamiento de la hepatitis C. De acuerdo con los datos de la nota de IP-watch.com en Malasia hay cerca de 500.000 personas viviendo con hepatitis C y el costo por paciente del tratamiento completo es de US71.000 (200 millones de pesos colombianos aproximadamente).
Malasia es un país de medianos ingresos que fue excluido inicialmente del esquema de licencias voluntaria de Gilead y recientemente el laboratorio anunció su inclusión.
